As the day for iPad release is upon us I have received, rather graciously, my iPad a day ahead of schedule and write this article from it. I hope to update this blog post with my findings on the best code editors and website designer related apps for the iPad.
Gusto
Gusto is a fully fledged app for the iPad stuffed with features, but still falls short of a fantastic app. The app features tabbed browsing and ‘project based’ site control with a nice publishing feature; meaning edits and new files are tracked and put live with one push of a button. Where it falls short, however is that it lacks major features like file and folder control, ie moving them within existing folders. A problem brought even more to the forefront when there lacks a reverse publishing, and when you download a folder from the site, the hierarchical folder structure is lost, only sub folders hold their integrity. This along with a lack of syntax highlighting leaves this app more or less useless for now, however I’m assured by the developers are working to fix these bugs, but until then this app scores low and I’m sure will lead to some serious disappointments.
2/5 – An app with some potential but fatal flaws leave it useless for now.
